It's almost 2019 and Toyota says it can't do that on their 2018 cars? Yet alone JUST apple carplay? Its a business gimmick to push 2019 vehicles since it's the ONLY upgrade they have changed from 2018 to 2019.Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) said on Tuesday it will launch a service next year offering customisation and updates for cars as customers increasingly hold on to their vehicles for longer.
TOYOTA ENTUNE UPDATE UPDATE
Mazda allowed their cars with 2013 infotainment systems to update Android auto and apple carplay. Oh and the needs special hardware to upgrade? I call bullshit. It sickens me how much they try to abuse their customers for cash. Yet they want you to buy a 2019+ version for it because business. Toyota Lexus is so far up their own ass that they don't understand that their infotainment OS is shit and it needs apple carplay and Android auto. It's only there to update the shit entune 3.0 that they invest so much money into. If they knew they were going to get apple carplay soon. They claim it's a hardware issue but I believe it is a business tactic. And no news on the carbrand getting Android auto at all anytime soon. Unfortunately 2018 buyers of the new gen Corolla and Camry do not get the update for Apple carplay. If there's no major updates that I'll ever get I can live with what I've got/consider getting an after market radio at some point, but some clarification on what I can expect if I bother trying to keep it updated would be awesome if anyone has any insight. Any other '18 Corolla owners here have any experience updating their car's system, and if I can expect any major updates to mine by updating the firmware/will there be the newer version of Entune for my model? Toyota's website wasn't super clear or helpful in figuring this out. I've done a fair bit of reading about updating Entune on my car and did once in the summer, but I keep seeing stuff about a newer version of Entune. I've read that 2019 models are coming with Apple Carplay now, so I imagine Android Auto is a possibility for newer models in the future too. I love that it's touch screen and big, but as a big tech head it makes me sad it doesn't come with Android Auto.

My 2018 is my first car I've ever owned and I love everything about it but one thing- the Entune infotainment dash.
